Finally something for the bassistsBass is commonly recorded direct, finally someone
is doing software amp modeling for bass
IK Multimedia announced Ampeg SVX at NAMM last
month and it is long overdue. Essentially it emulates a bunch of Ampeg heads and
cabinets, and lets you do some mixing and matching. (here is the press release in PDF) While I'm
excited, I'd like to see a lot more manufactures jumping on this bandwagon. I
use a GK head with SWR and Hartke speakers. I'd like to mix that sound up with a
classic Sunn going through Ampeg speakers or whatever. Hopefully, this will just
be the first of many announcements addressing virtual bass
rigs.
