What to do with old music

The Other Page is making a long lost compilation of punk tunes available on the web

There is a lot of music out there from the 70s, 80s and 90s made by little bands in the DIY style and available only on cassette. Some of these bands are still around of course, but most moved on, leaving little musical nuggets behind, gathering dust in the shoe boxes of their fans. It's about time we all dug out these cassettes and posted them on the web, which is exact what The Other Page has done. They've resurrected a slice of classic Northern California punk in mp3s on their website from a Cometbus cassette only compilation.

Now don't get me wrong, it'd suck to find out that someone was putting some of my old stuff up on the net without my permission. Ideally, you could track down the artists who created this stuff and make sure they were cool with it, but I also acknowledge that it is nearly impossible in most cases. It just sucks to think how much good music is being lost to the ages every day as the cassettes that was its only outlet deteriorates.
